If this situation continues ，都是差不多的意思，continues 就是继续下去的意思啊

If we let it go on,

if we let this situation continue as it is 这个是对的，没有be的说法，还可以翻译成：if we let this situation go as it is.

都可以，上面一句偏书面化，下面一句偏口语化。
主要还要看文章前后~~~
