see sb doing sth
这两个都是固定搭配.用do的时候是当你看到了全过程.当用doing的时候是当你看到了他正在做的事,强调状态.
其实,也可以这样想.see在句中是一个动词,如果prepair还用过去式的话,很明显,也是做动词出现的.一句话中怎么会有两个动词呢?
所以这里的repair是做宾语补足语出现的.修饰him

see的特殊用法，可以加动词原形表看见某人做某事。也可以加动名词表看见某人正在做某事。

因为see是感官动词，他的后面跟动词原形或者doing.
比如：hear, watch

根据语法，本应是see sb to do sth， 省掉了to的固定短语。因此用动词原形。
