Prince is his real name.Prince Rogers Nelson was born in 1959 in Minneapolis,Minnesota.Both his parents were musical.His father led a jazz band.His mother was a singer.As a child.Prince taught himself to play more than twenty musical instruments.As a teenager,he led a band that played at local dance.In 1977,officials at the Warner Brothers record company signed an agreement to record his songs.Prince made four moderately successful record albums.They were not hits,nor were they complete failure.Then he became truly successful with his movie,"Purple Rain".Prince won an Oscar award for the music performed in the movie.One of the first hit records from the movie was the song of the same name," Purple Rain".Prince's second movie,"Under the Cherry Moon" was not successful.But he is back again,this time with a two-record album called,"Sign O' The Time".
